Sweet Summer Memories

"Sweet Summer Memories"

About This Painting:
After painting this little landscape I just couldn't resist adding the tire-swing in remembrance of all the fun at many different swimming holes with a rope or a tire swing over the water! usually it was up on a higher hill than this. I remember a group of kids pushing each other, and 2 or 3 trying to jump on the swing at the same time! Someone usually got pushed in or fell off.
Ready to frame.

Letting Go, palette knife abstract

"Letting Go"

About This Painting:

This palette knife painting started as a color study. It soon became a metaphor for inner struggles. I sensed the pull in my soul to hang onto things that people have done and said that hurt me, and I felt the release when I let go and forgave them. I am learning to do this right away, and not let it build over time.

This abstract painting is symbolic in many ways. The movement of the paint represents moving on, getting free from things that keep us from joy. The red and orange colors are for anger and heat, and the dark purple and black are for spiritual death that we find in unforgiveness. The white is the way of escape that Father God is always faithful to provide.

The cool colors at the bottom are the streams of refreshing we find in letting go.

By forgiving others, even when they do not ask for it, we can let go of offenses and not become resentful, which only hurts us, not them.

About This Painting:
This is from Silver Springs Florida. It was morning, I thought the reflections were just lovely. Birds where everywhere. I like the impressionistic style of this painting. I wanted to try to capture that magical feeling you get when you know you are experiencing God's presence through His creation.

Painted Paint, A paint horse up close

"Painted Paint"
About This Painting:
This was inspired by Kathy Papasso's painting called "Bull's Eye" which I have always thought was an exceptional painting (see my side-bar for her work).

I wanted to capture the texture and close feel of the fur, but the eyes quickly took over to become the focal point. I used two pictures of Paint Horses, and two of Thoroughbreds for references. Then I free handed the drawing onto the canvas before I began painting it. It has taken over a month to finish it.

Media: acrylic on canvas
Size: 16 in X 12 in (40.6 cm X 30.5 cm)
