What a great day! I did a demo at an art fest, and painted this today. I met lots of interesting people, saw booths full of excellent art, and then a dance school of little ballerinas performed in the street. To top it all off, one of my daily paintings from December took a first place ribbon! (Great Egret 2) I'll find out tomorrow how much the first place winners in each category will recieve.

Saw this gator sunning last weekend when we went fishing. At first glance I only saw his tail. The rest of him was almost hidden in the lilly pads. When he turned toward us and went under, I got very nervous! He looked big enough to more than rock our boat . . .

 Did a series of these experimental paintings a while ago. They start with thin layers of under-painting and then glazing. Thick paint is added last for contrast and detail. They are symbolic for tears and rain bringing about growth and life, physically and spiritually. I think this was the last one in a series of about ten.

The seasons here are all mixed up. We have the gorgeous dead grass everywhere from the recent cold snap; 40 is cold for us! For several mornings it has been cold. But the afternoons have started warming up. So we have some spring colors arriving already too. The bright greens and the brown grass really caught my eye this weekend. Then the sun started going down and lit it all up. I added the deer because I kept looking for one to jump out across the field!
