Last Watch, Impressionism Seascape, Sunset

"Last Watch"
24 x 36 inches
Acrylic on canvas
Not available

I hid an angel in the clouds. The sand was fun, lots of texture and contrast. I also like the way these colors play off of each other.
This is a commissioned painting.

At Lake Istokpoga, Impressionism, Plein Air

"At Lake Istokpoga"
5 x 7 inches
Acrylic on hardboard

This is the third painting I did Tuesday out at Lake Istokpoga (iss-ta-po-ga). This small painting has a very simple composition, yet it works well. I was very happy with the lighting and the movement. I did it alla prima (all in one session).

Lake Istokpoga Too, Plein Air, bird, heron

"Lake Istokpoga Too"
8 x 10 inches
Acrylic on hardboard

This is the second painting from Tuesday morning. I added the great blue heron when I got home. He had been sitting at the end of the dock most of the morning, then he just took off!

Lake Istokpoga, Plein Air Landscape, Impressionism

"Lake Istokpoga"
8 x 10 inches
Acrylic on hardboard

I headed north of here, toward Sebring yesterday morning. (This lake is pronounced iss-ta-poe-ga.) It was so nice out that I stayed until lunch time. I did three paintings, which I will be posting over the next couple of days.

The wind was kind to keep me cool. There were lots of trees for shade, and so many birds posing for me, that I had to keep stopping for more pictures! What a great morning.
I added the birds after I got home, I just couldn't leave them out! smile.

Resting Place, impressionism landscape, birds, barn

"Resting Place"
8 x10 inches
Acrylic on hardboard
Not Available

Hundreds of egrets just kept coming to roost in this old tree. It was an amazing sight! By the time they all found a spot the tree looked like it was nothing but white dots. I added the barn for interest and made the pond a little larger to repeat the feeling of movement and balance.

Waiting, Impressionism Landscape, Bird

"Waiting"
9 x 12 inches
Acrylic on canvas board
SOLD
While I was out painting yesterday morning I took some good pictures of this great blue heron. He was hard to see at first because he did not move at all. I thought he was just a rock!
I really got lost in all those rocks, just kept adding more and more thick paint. It was fun.

Partly Cloudy, Daily Painting, Palms

"Partly Cloudy"
8 x 10 inches
Acrylic on hardboard

I did this painting from memory. It is really fun to just make it up based on previous plein air works, and previous studies. This is from my back view again. I have done these in different color schemes, and at different times of the day. Depending on which direction I look I get a different set of palms. I really like the way this one has turned out. The sun is coming through all the clouds, and the birds are headed out toward the lake (which is on the other side of the dike.)
