Just finished up this little demo from a couple of years ago.  Really like the reflections and the contrast.  This one was inspired by Jane Irwin's photography.  She brought it to class for us to paint!

I originally created this as a demonstration painting, but recently added more leaves and details to finish it up. I also strengthened the color contrasts.  I love the movement in the water and the bright colors of the leaves.

For Life, sandhill cranes, wildlife painting

"For Life"

Sandhill cranes mate for life.  The male in this painting is courting the female. The setting is at sunrise to symbolize a new beginning. 

I love these kinds of paintings!  There is so much more to them than just a nice picture.

Had a great time painting these last week!  I set them both up on the easel and did them at the same time!  We were at the George Lestrange Preserve in Fort Pierce.  Don't get too many chances to do paint-outs these days, so I just put everything else aside and went anyway!
