End of the Road, Florida landscape with natural springs

"End of the Road"

Plein air painting I did at the Adams Ranch for Saturday's paint-out. The water actually runs all the way around the little hill. These natural springs are all over the ranch. Some of them have a sulfur smell to them, but this one didn't. The kite birds kept swooping down in front of me, and I was able to get some pretty good photos of them. It was cool and breezy too. What a perfect morning!

I believe we all have lots of angels looking out for us. Linda must have hundreds, because she was in a terrible wreck that she should not have survived. Her car was crushed by a big truck.

Back at White City Park, just can't get over how beautiful it is! Felt like I was part of a fairytale, so I used purple and blue to get started, which gives it that enchanted feeling. Cypress Shores, landscape, egret and alligator, knife painting

"Cypress Shores"

Painted this palette knife painting from memory. It is from a fishing trip we went on last week. There were so many birds and alligators that I just had to add some, but the painting was really about the interesting shapes the cypress trees made with the morning sky showing through them.

The palette knife texture is thick and the colors are strong, I also like the way the contrast turned out this time.

Heavenly Connections, palette knife angel

"Heavenly Connections"

This is similar to "Endless Hope." It was a custom order that is in a larger format. I absolutely love painting these angels more than anything. They bring peace and joy to me in such abundance, and I send them on with prayers for those who view them. It is also a great reminder that Almighty God has put his angels around us to help us.

In the Bible angels are mighty warriors, and those who saw them fell down in fear! They can also seem like normal people, and we never realize they were angels. But often because of symbolism, we give them wings, and make them look like beautiful women. Which I am sure is very possible as well.

A little Spring, landscape with a natrual spring

"A Little Spring"

About This Painting:
From a painting demonstration for my kid's summer class. I added more detail when I got home. The lesson was on a limited palette. The kids each got to choose a color scheme. (This was my older group.) It was hard for them at first, but once they figured out they could add white and they could get grays, browns and blacks by mixing the colors together, then it became very fun! I love to see the light bulbs turn on as they try new things.

About This Painting:
Started with purple and yellow, and then added some pinks and blues to help tie it together. I like the glow around the angel. Purple is symbolic for the unknown and spiritual realms. Yellow is symbolic for joy and enlightenment. This painting was done with a painting knife, giving it a unique texture and interesting effects. It was commissioned as part of a set.
