"Endless Song Too"

The format of this commissioned painting is larger than the previous painting "Endless Song," and this one is vertical instead of square. 

It is actually the third palette knife painting of an angel done in this style. These are so exciting to paint, with lots of thick intense color and wonderful movement. I have already started another small one in a different color scheme and a different arrangement.

About This Painting:

Commissioned piece.

This colorful bird is a Painted Bunting, male. These little buntings are like a flash of color, they are so fast and very hard to photograph! The females are green. Lately we have had a couple of Indigo Buntings too. Robert has two feeders and then he fills up the knot holes with seed also. Doves and Blue Jays try to run off the squirrels, and the black birds come and take over! Today a large Wood Pecker joined the crowd.

I have been working on this little girl for a few weeks. I love her big dark eyes against all that soft white fur! This was quite a challenge, as shadows in white fur often look to dark or too light, hard to get the right balance. I am very happy with the outcome.

Yellow is symbolic for joy, and purple is symbolic for the unknown or spiritual things. So this painting combines both of those ideas.
