Heaven's Harmony

"Heaven's Harmony"
6 x 6 inches
Acrylic on cradled hardboard
SOLD

My grandmother passed away this past week. I was thinking about heaven and wondering how happy she must be to see Grandpa again.

I started this painting as a simple abstract of warm analogous colors. Slowly the painting evolved into mountains and grass. Then I added the trees.

My grandmother loved the pine trees, and she loved the mountains. She saw beauty in everything, even things that I thought were so insignificant. She gave me a thirst for nature and it's grander. The deer would come down the hill behind her house and eat from her garden, and I would get up early so I could watch them with her. She wouldn't let me get to close to the patio window because she didn't want me to scare them away.

Poem for Grandma Willi

Grandma’s Garden
Vegetable gardens
flower beds galore

Home cooked meals
very few chores
Horses to ride
Rocky Mountains to explore
Freedom to laugh, to run, to grow,
never any beatings to endure
Saddest days at summer’s end
when Grandma’s gardens are no more

Polo

"Polo"
8 x 10 inches
Acrylic on canvas
$350.00

This is for a fund raising event coming up. I will probably tweak it a little, but I like the over all effect.

We went to a polo game a few weeks ago, and I have been anxious to paint some of the pictures I took that day.

Winter's Edge, Wildlife Art

Winter's Edge
5 x 7 inches
Acrylic on Canvas
Not Available

I was just playing with these soft colors in the grasses again. Actually it was a cow that I saw, but wanted to paint a deer instead. I painted this from memory.
I love the few months that we get some change of color in the winter. Most things are green most of the year down here. With the drought and a few cold spells the grasses right now are lovely.

The Lion and The Lamb

"The Lion and the Lamb"
SOLD

This is an original oil painting I did years ago. I am posting it because I have prints of this painting available.

Jesus is said to be the Lion of Judah and the Sacrificial Lamb for our sin. This is also symbolic of the peace of heaven when the lion will lay down with the lamb and will not harm it.

Goldfish, abstract, Daily painting

"Goldfish"
9 x 12 inches
Acrylic on hardboard
$475.00
I wanted to get the feeling of looking down in the water and the feeling of looking at the side view through the water at the same time, so you can't tell which view it really is. It was a fun challenge.
This painting is all knife work., which is great for that abstract quality I was after.

Shoreline, 2, plein air painting

" Shoreline 2"
5 x 7 inches
Acrylic on hardboard
SOLD

This is the second painting I did last Friday at the canal at lock G-36. It was windy and the water was difficult to render. I think I got the feel of it though. I really like the cypress trees on the right.

Shoreline, Plein Air Painting

"Shoreline "
5 x 7 inches
Acrylic on hardboard
NOT AVAILABLE

Went back to lock G-36 yesterday (which is still closed due to lack of water). It was cool and breezy in the morning, and I wanted to capture the cool, blueish shadows in the rocks. The egrets were all around, so I added one here on the shore.

The water in the rim canal around the levee is getting very full. The water in the lake is still very low. They are not opening up the locks and letting the water flow because all of the canals and creeks will stay too low. I guess they figure people can at least get their boats in the water this way.
It is sad to see what was once a grand wetland with tons of wildlife shrink away to dry land. Lake Okeechobee seems to be disappearing.

Water's Edge, daily painting by Fawn

"Water's Edge"
6 x 6 x 3/4 inches
Acrylic on cradled hardboard
(painting continues on sides)
$300.00

Saw this plant one day while I was out painting en plein air. I was taking pictures of some birds and saw these little flowers glowing in the sun. They stood out so nicely against the water. I painted this from one of those photos.
