Detail of "Carrot?" Horse painting

"Carrot?"
9 by 12 inches
Acrylic on gessoboard

$950.00

This is one I did a couple of months ago. I didn't finish the painting I started for today. This has to be my favorite painting. The horse is a quarter horse that lived down the road from me. I made up the girl trying to make friends.

Title: "Up the Creek 3"
Size: 8 x 10 inches

This painting is from Arbuckle Creek. Spent a whole day boating up stream and took some great photos. I exagerated the grass to set off the old tree.

Breakfast, Realistic Impressionism, Landscape

Title: "Breakfast"
Size: 8 x 10 inches
Medium: Acrylic on Ampersand gessobord
Sold

This is down at the boat ramp. Lake Okeechobee is low, so I was able to walk way out to the end of the channel. Took some good photos of all kinds of wildlife. Seems like early in the morning is the best time to catch everyone at the lake. Before the boats run them off.

Down Stream, Daily Painting,Impressionism, Landscape

"Down Stream"
9 x 12 inches
Acrylic on hardboard

Sold

This started out to be a landscape with very little water. I was using only the secondary colors (a triad color scheme) to begin with. But as I got farther away from the original idea I turned the painting up-side-down; the loose brush work just looked more like water than trees! So I began to play around with more intense contrast and more detail above the water and added water lines to break up the reflections further. I also added extra colors and let the painting take its course. I love the abstract look of the reflections against the realistic foliage.

Up The Creek, Impressionism, Daily Painting

Title: "Up the Creek"
Size: 9 x 12 inches
Medium: Acrylic on Ampersand gessobord

Sold

This was created from one of my photos of Taylor Creek.
I love the reflections and the colors. I keep wanting to turn the painting over! Started to add some birds, tell me what you think. I think it may take away from the reflection, which is the main point of the painting. But I could add them, or one just in the reflection, that sounds cool. Ran out of time today, we went fishing. Perfect day.

Just playing with thick paint and contrast again. Warm colors against the cool colors, and splashing water against the hard rocks. I love the abstract patterns it creates.
Thanks for looking!

Brahman Bull, Daily Pinting, Impressionism,Animals

9 x 12 inches
Acrylic on Ampersand gessobord

SOLD

Brahmas used to be the main type of cattle around here. They are hearty and can withstand the hot weather. some of the cows will eat the oranges that fall on the ground, it is funny to watch them wrinkle up their nose and slobber all over the place!

Never Ending, Daily Painting, Impressionist Seascape

9 x12 inches

Acrylic on archival Ampersand gessobord
Not Available

This is near the bathtub beach in Stuart, Florida. It is one of my favorite beaches because it reminds me of the Pacific islands. (I lived in Hawaii and Guam as a teenager.) Haven't found too many Atlantic beaches with such an interesting rocky shore. I love the shapes in the rocks set against the moving water!

Running Over (daily painting, surrealism)

Studio Painting
9 x12 inches
Acrylic on Gesobord
$320.00
Ready to frame

Just letting my mind wonder a little. I really love this concept, and the odd way the water is running over even though there is no flow into it. Combined a couple of different ideas with some photos to come up with this one. Makes me think of the Bible verse that says "my cup runneth over."

Quiet Time (Daily painting, landscape)

9 x12 inches

Acrylic on Ampersand Gessobord
(archival)
$375.00

This was an experimental painting. I used a subtractive method. First I stained the board with light warm tones, and let it dry. Then I added the dark colors and I wiped out the tree trunks with a small brush. So thefirst part was done with very thin paint. Then I loaded up the brush with thick paint for the leaves and the reflections. I have to admit, it took a couple of tries, but I like the mood it left behind.

Great White Egret (Daily Painting, wildlife)

9x12
Acrylic on Ampersand Gessobord
Sold

This egret kept following our boat around. I guess he was quite a ham! I ended up with a lot of blurred and cropped images. But this one turned out nice. I made up the reflection, and exagerated the reeds. This really emphasizes the egret.
