Ladies in Waiting, water lilies

"Ladies in Waiting"
8 x 8 inches
Acrylic on canvas
sides are painted so framing is optional
$750.00

I started this one before we left last week, and have only had a chance to work on it twice since we got home. I was interested in all the contrasts: opposite movement of the lines, color contrasts, and the thin background paint contrasted with the thick top layers. Quite stimulating.

My husband's surgery was successful. You can click here to read about it.

Evening Glow, sunset, plumbagos

"Evening Glow"
8 x 10 inches
Acrylic on hardboard
Ready to frame
$675.00

Caught a glimpse of the the last warm rays of the sun, looked like they were setting these flowers ablaze in my front yard. It was a wonderful display of warm and cool colors!

I will be out of town for a few days, my husband will be having surgery for the shunt in his head . . . I am told it is like night and day. He should get all of his mobility back and his thought processes too . . . So I am thanking God ahead of time. It has been quite disheartening to watch my hero go down.

Moon Rise, Sunset

"Moon Rise"
5 x 7 inches
Acrylic on hardboard

Saw the full moon come up the other night as the sun was setting. The old cypress tree really set it off, looked like something out of a movie! I painted this from memory, as I didn't have my camera with me, but I still wanted to capture the moment.

Enjoy!

last look, fall leaves

"Last Look"
12 x 16 inches
Acrylic on canvas
ready to frame

I have worked on this painting for a few weeks, on and off. It is my last fall painting for a while. I really wanted to go north and visit my family on the East coast and see all the wonderful colors again. That didn't work out this year, so I thought I would paint it instead. This is from the same area as the last little one I did of this area. The format is larger this time, and it is from a different angle.
I may add some birds or animals, but so far I just don't think it needs it.
Enjoy!

Down the Road Again, palette knife painting

"Down the Road Again"
6 x 6 inches
Acrylic on hardboard

This is a fun little painting. I put a hawk hiding in the tree just right of the center. (Click on the image for zoom.) He has been hanging out around my house for about two weeks now. He has been on my fence, on my porch, on my shed, and by my car . . . today he was in a little tree singing (if you can call it that) for an hour! He looks young, has a white patch above one eye but not above the other. Very odd looking. He is large too, and has startled me several times. He doesn't fly away and is not afraid of me. I got some cool pictures of him today, so I hope to paint a close up of him as soon as I get some extended time. That has not been easy lately.

Peace To You, palette knife painting

"Peace to You"
6 x 6 inches
acrylic on hardboard
NOT AVAILABLE

Did this quick little palette knife painting a few days ago, just before we left. It is alla prima. I always enjoy the wet-in-wet effect of painting all in one session.
We got back from Gainesville early, as the radio-surgery procedure was canceled for my husband. He has severe adverse reactions to local anesthetics and some other complications. Now a new surgery is scheduled for a shunt in his head, which will relieve excess fluids from his brain.
A little scary. We have to wait two more weeks!
Thanks for stopping by.

Brunch 2, egrets and herons for Barbara

"Brunch 2"
5 x 7 inches
acrylic on hardboard

SOLD

I did 4 or 5 in this series. Barbara loved this one because it had both of her favorite birds in it. Our Daily painters group wanted to post some paintings in her memory, as she was an avid art collector. So today's paintings are posted for her.
She emailed me often, just to chat. It was always encouraging. She loved my paintings that had animals in them, and even some that were just scenic. I am sure many of the artists at dailypainters.com will miss her.
