First Time For Everthing, foal running

"First Time for Everything"

Got great pictures of this new colt running around the paddock his first time out. He had a hard time getting here, and his mother almost didn't make it. One of the foal's legs came through the rectum and the other got hung up backwards.  The mare could not move around very well after being sown back together. They were kept in a stall until she could walk some.

When he took off bucking and running around, she would call him back each time.  He would catch his breath and then take off again! It was way too cool to watch. He lives next door to me.

I was mostly interested in the backlighting and how it set him off.  The dust kicking up was also something I wanted to try to capture.  I exaggerated the background and moved things around to create more contrast because the sunset blurred so much of it out.  I think it is one of best works!
