Heaven's Delight, fingerprint flowers

"Heaven's Delight"
© Fawn McNeill 2026

Fingertips loaded with thick globs of pinks and purples smashing on the wet white paint made the children laugh. So very delightful to watch their fingers dance about and make new colors!

This was the first of our experiments. I created this one as a sample for us to use to create new ideas.  Even the background is layers of over blended finger smudges.  Not over-blending was one of the challenges.

This was also the first in my new series of imprinting with fingers and toes.  The goal was to create thick layers of paint by using a palette knife, paper towels, fake flowers, fingers and yes, even toes! (We used other objects too).

Trust me, I did not let the children use their toes during class. We had enough fun trying to keep the paint on the canvas without having footprints all over the floor.  We had a big enough mess as it was. Not to mention how they wanted to touch their face, or their neighbor's face with paint on their fingers!

But this was more than silly fun that I got to take part in.  For me, it set in motion a desire to have fun with my art and experience some of their silly joy in my own work.
