Early Light, palette knife painting

"Early Light"

About This Painting:
Did this little one alla prima (all in one session). It makes for thick paint and lovely texture. The paint creates exciting patterns as it blends under the knife. I painted it from memory. It is always fun to paint with a knife. You never know exactly what you will get!
Ready to frame.

Enchanting Love, purple rose

"Enchanting Love"

About This Painting:
This is the first of a set of Enchanting Roses! The colors are a little more red-violet in the actual paintings than the image is showing here. These roses are so stunning, and the contrasting yellow shades really set it off.
It is custom made, and created by exchanging ideas. What a fun way to come up with original art!
If you are thinking about having one done as a gift, now is the time. Especially for larger works. I will start a waiting list as it gets closer to the holidays.

"Abstract Iris 3"

About This Painting:
I had painted a small rough draft on hardboard in acrylic before I started the large abstract "Summer Splendor" (See below). So I painted over it here to create a new one. Used a palette knife this time, and used loads of paint! I was mostly just playing around with some new color ideas.

Summer's Glory, Great Blue Heron

"Summer's Glory"
About This Painting:
I have a few minor corrections to make, and I may add more flowers, but I like the overall affect. I especially like all the warm colors next to the cool grays and black. I saw this heron on Taylor Creek a few weeks ago, and took some nice photos. He just stood there and posed for me! Then I saw a Great White Egret near these day lilies just a few days later. So I thought I would combine the two ideas for this painting.
This is done on a Gallery Wrap Canvas, the painting continues on the sides and there is no need for a frame.

Media: acrylic on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Size: 6 in X 12 in (15.2 cm X 30.5 cm)

On the Way, Fish Eating Creek

"On the Way"

About This Painting:
My Husband and I went out in a boat, on Fish Eating Creek in Lake Port, Florida. While he fishes, I take pictures! I was watching this storm come closer. It got darker than this, but the sun was coming from behind me, and the bank was lit up... very surreal. The birds were everywhere, so I painted a few of them in this small composition. I really like the contrast of the cloudy sky against the sunlit bank.

Ready to frame.
