Blue Cypress Lake, re-worked, Impressionism Landscape

"Blue Cypress Lake"
8 x 10 inches
Acrylic on hardboard

This is another painting that I wanted to brighten up and add some birds. It was originally created in March. Now I have strengthened the reflections and the foliage. I especially like the birds. They seem to fit right in.

Boom Boom Boom!, Floral Plein Air, Bromeliads

"Boom Boom Boom!"
5 x 7 inches
(ready to frame)
Acrylic on hardboard

This is a tribute to Lori McNamara, who does wonderful plein air palette knife paintings! I must say it was exciting, messy, and fun! This is my first one on location using only a knife. My previous knife paintings were done in the studio from my own photos.

These bromeliads remind me of firecrackers, such an explosion of bright color.

Many things are blooming right now, so I went out this morning and found this amazing lily. It is a spider lily, and it reminds me of party streamers!

It was done alla prima (all in one session).

What was That? Realistic Impressionism

"What Was That?"

This is a young cow (cows often have horns too- not just bulls). She was quite skittish. I love the contrast and the motion here.

Rivers of Joy Again, Impressionism Landscape

"Rivers of Joy Again"
9 x12 inches
Acrylic on hardboard
Not Available

I did this painting a few months ago.Created from memory. I have reworked it some, added new colors and a couple of birds in the distance. I have gotten where if it doesn't have birds it just doesn't seem finished! Smile.

I had one of those cool songs that kept running trough my mind as I was painting it, here is part of it:

I will sing of His mercies that lead me through valleys of sorrow to rivers of joy.

Tiny Roses 2, Impressionism Floral

"Tiny Roses 2"
5 x 7 inches
Acrylic on gesso board
NOT AVAILABLE

Could not resist, had to zoom in on those tiny little flowers! I used thick paint with a large brush and painted this alla prima. I like the very loose brush strokes, they are so expressive.

Tiny Roses, Still Life, Floral Impressionism

"Tiny Roses"
9 x 12 inches
Acrylic on Archival Canvas-board
(canvas covered hardboard)
Ready to frame.
$675.00

This one took a few days. But I am satisfied with it now. I don't usually enjoy painting a still life as much as a scenic or an animal, but I loved painting all these colors and the play of light.
My husband brought these home for me to plant out side, but I had to paint them first!

Little Secrets, Realistic Impressionism, Daily Painting

"Little Secrets"
8 x 10 inches
Acrylic on canvas
Custom wood frame
(See below)
$590.00 (Free shipping in the US)

These yearlings are like teenagers! Lots of fun taking the pictures I used.  Lots of hours getting the composition right before I even started painting this one. Drew it all out on paper first.  Left out some of the horses, and changed their colors to set them off.

 Thanks for looking!

Quiet Time, Impressionism Landscape, Daily Painting.

"Quiet Time"
9 x12 inches
Acrylic on hardboard
(ready to frame)
$650.00

This is an older Daily Painting that I did last December. The title refers to prayer time. Nature has a way of reminding me to thank God for things.

This was an experimental painting. Thick over very thin and some "erasing." I used a subtractive method. First I stained the board with light warm tones, and let it dry. Then I added the dark colors and I wiped out the tree trunks with a small wet brush so the stained colors would show up as tree trunks. Then I added the thick highlights. I like the effect.
