Pushing Through Again, Mixed Media, inspirational art

"Pushing Through, Again"

This is the first of a new series I've started.  Been experimenting with thick impasto, modeling paste, and gel mediums.

Went on a treasure hunt and found  a few charm bracelets and necklaces at thrift stores. Had so much fun adding them to my paintings!

Second Look, Florida art, plein air

"Second Look"
© Fawn McNeill 2011

This is the third painting I did at the Adams Ranch on location a few years ago. I had packed up most of my gear, and then looked back at this view from the other side of the path before I loaded up my easel. I was tired and ready to leave, but it was so beautiful, and I wanted to at least get this one started. So I went back and unloaded everything! Got a great lay-in, and almost finished it on location...... I touched up a few things and added a little more detail when I got home. I love the way it turned out!

Enjoy!

Rocky Shore, plein air, birds

"Rocky Shore"
Fawn McNeill © 2007

I recently repainted part of this older plein air painting.  (Done on location.)

The water level was very low, and the rocks made interesting patterns. It was challenging, to say the least!

The little blue heron stayed off to the far right most of the morning, and just before I finished up, the water turkey (anhinga) poked his head up a few times (near the bottom).

I loved all the colors and the rhythm in this painting, but I went back and toned down some of the rocks, mostly on the left and a little near the top, in order to direct the viewer's eye toward the bird on the right.
