Fall's Splendor 2, Autumn Leaves, Daily Painting by Fawn

"Fall's Splendor 2"
8 x 10 inches
Acrylic on hardboard
(ready to frame)

This is Lake Carolina near my sister's house. I did some plein air work in watercolors while I was visiting, and took lots of pictures. I did this painting today from some of those pictures. This is the second painting of this area that I have done recently. Good memories.

From Ruck's Road, Dairy Cows, Plein Air Painting by Fawn

"From Rucks Road"
16 x 20 inches
Acrylic on canvas
SOLD

This is one of my earlier plein air paintings. I did three paintings of the dairy cows on this country road. It wasn't so bad while I did this one very early. But then the cows came up near me . . . It was smelly, had lots of flies, and I was dripping in sweat by 8:00 am! I tried to shoo them off, but they hung out next to the fence.
Needless to say, I learned to set up in the shade, and I have not gone near the dairy to paint again! LOL.

Like a Rock, wildlife art by Fawn

"Like a Rock"
9 x 12 inches
Acrylic on hardboard
Sold

This great blue heron was standing so still that I did not even see him until the splash of the water made him show up! He startled me, because he was just two steps away. I started taking his picture from all angles, and he never moved, just a slight turn of the head to watch me. I had to laugh, It was as if he were saying, "I'm a rock, I'm a rock, I'm a rock!"

Splash Down, East Coast Beach

"Splash Down"

When I was at the beach, a couple of weeks ago, the foam and splash came up past my knees! What a wonderful morning.

The wind and salt air took me back to my teen years when I lived in the Pacific Islands. We spent every event on the beach, in Hawaii, and in Guam. I enjoyed reliving the memories in this painting.

Now I live inland- in the center of Florida. It is about an hour's drive from my house to the coast.  I haven't had such a great time there in a few months. The weather, the lighting, and the inspiration - well, it was just perfect.

Seagrapes, Alla Prima, Daily Painting

"Seagrapes"
9 x 12 inches
(ready to frame)
Acrylic on hardboard

This was a quick fun painting, it started as a study of a young seagrape bush, and turned into more of an abstract: with the focus on repeated circular shapes and bold colors. This plant was lit up with briliant light and wonderful deep shadows. As I painted it, it became more about the interesting shapes and patterns than the actual leaves and colors.

Rising Up, Atlantic Sunrise, Seagull,

"Rising Up"
20 x 24 inches
Acrylic on canvas
NOT AVAILABLE

This is another one from a couple of weeks ago when I went to the beach early and took a ton of pictures. I have rearranged the elements somewhat to emphasize the drama.
There is a lot of symbolism in this painting. Some things that were going through my mind include:
1.The rocks represent our trials and struggles.
2.The sunrise is for the hope we find in a new day.
3.The laughing gull is symbolic for trusting God to turn it all around. He will bring good out of the hardships we face if we trust Him.
