Mountain Air, river landscape

"Mountain Air"

This painting had a rough start.  It was only half finished as a demo.  The class was large, so I didn't get a chance to do much in the way of demonstrating.  Played around with it a few more times, adding snow, a cabin, and some fog.  I got carried away with the rocks and the water, working over them a few times.  The large tree in the foreground was taken out and added back twice.  Clouds were strengthened and eagles added too.  I made it available in print a while ago, but forgot to post the original.

Angel lake, sunset

"Angel Lake"

Original demo © 2011

This painting started as a class demo.  Went back later and added stronger colors, and more detail along the shore line.  Added the angel in place of the sun. I also gave it more contrast by darkening the foreground tree.  

I'm posting it again, in honor of my Mother-in-law, Dorothy Barr, who just went to meet Jesus.  She was 98! I miss her.

Heavenly Highlights, Southern sunset, landscape with livestock

"Heavenly Highlights"

This large painting took almost 9 years to create!  It was in progress when we where building a new house, and we also had three major hurricanes that year.  It ended up in storage two different times.  I got it back out from time to time and added more details.   

Originally it was full of downed trees and devastation from the storms.  I saw this sunset just after the first hurricane came through, and was inspired to paint it, but then I was not happy with the broken trees and littered landscape.  Each time I got it out I added more growth and life to it.   Finally I liked it.  My husband loved it and said I should display it, so I signed it and stopped adding more to it!

Sunrise Beach, Seascape with palm, demo painting

"Sunrise Beach"

Have done this one as a class demo a couple of times, always love it.  Added the palm tree this time, and more clouds.  My students are encouraged to use more pink or orange if they want a sunset instead of sunrise. Of course it could be either.
