About This Painting:
It was a cold damp morning. While I was taking a brisk walk in Montana last year, I turned a corner and found this little field of dandelions. Wow! The sun was coming through the mist right on the wild flowers, like a carpet. It was so beautiful!
When I came across the pictures I had taken of this field, I wanted to capture that memory. I did this alla prima, or all in one session, which creates a wet-in wet look. It causes me to use thicker paint and let the colors mix right on the board. That is my favorite way to paint, but usually time doesn't allow it and I have to go back to finish up a painting. I could go back and fix a few things in this one, but I love the loose fresh brushstrokes and don't want to loose that effect.
Thanks for stopping by!
