Lead Me Home, horses in their first snow

"Lead Me Home"
About This Painting:
These Florida horses now live in Georgia, snow is not something they are used too!
This painting is for Diane Cletzer. Her horses are in their twenties now, so I am sure this was quite an ordeal for them! They have been together all their lives, so this painting kind of takes on a spiritual meaning if you think of home as being heaven.....

Media: acrylic on canvas
Size: 16 x 20 inches

This one always seemed a little too dark to me. So I added a few brighter colors and another lily to emphasize the flowers. I think that does it now.....
Enjoy!

Spoonbill, plein air landscape

"Spoonbill"

About This Painting:
Went out to the Adams Ranch for an annual artist's days paint out. This is one of the many natural springs that flow through the ranch. The water is clear and very turquise. this photo doesn't pick up the colors in the painting very well, but the blues are a little more of a greenish hue.

I added the spoonbill when I got home, I had seen it flying overhead while out painting, way too cool! (Spoonbills have a shorter neck than flamingos, and they range from white and soft light pinks, to dark pinks, almost a red color, and somtimes they have yellow accents too. Very strange looking bird, with a flat duck like bill. Very pretty colors though!)

The painting continues on the sides which are close to 2 inches thick, so framing is optional.

Little Stream, landscape with wildlife, alligator and heron

"Little Stream"

About This Painting:
Added the wildlife to this older painting after I saw this gator swimming beside our boat down in the Everglades a few months ago. That was the closest I have ever been to a gator!

I wanted a little more realism also, so I repainted some of the trees and water.

Ready to frame.

Media: acrylic on hardboard
Size: 12 in X 9 in (30.5 cm X 22.9 cm)

Before the Rain, swamp landscape with eagle

"Before the Rain"

About This Painting:
Plein air painting, Lori McNamara and I got rained out. Some of the painting was distorted slightly, but most of it held up with the rain water all over it. I repainted parts of it and finished it at home. The eagle was off to the right of this area. Lori got a great picture of him, it is posted on her blog. I moved him to the left so I could include him in my painting.

Ready to frame.

Size: 6 in X 6 in (15.2 cm X 15.2 cm)

Red-violet Orchids, exotic floral

"Red-violet Orchids"

About This Painting:
One of my husband's new plants is in full bloom. I just love the vibrant colors! Couldn't resist painting it up close.

I am working on a few larger paintings, so these small gems are nice to break it up and get something finished. I thought I would stop doing my small paintings for the most part, but I must be addicted to them! Once I decided to do more large paintings and stop doing these small ones, it was like saying you're on a diet and eating everything you shouldn't! :-)

Ready to frame.

Size: 6 in X 6 in (15.2 cm X 15.2 cm)

Florida Sunshine, viceroy butterfly

"Florida Sunshine"

About This Painting:
Painted this from some photos I took down at the lake. The fruit was actually a load of grapefruits that a truck had lost on the side of the road. This butterfly was drinking nectar from one of the grapefruits that was busted open. It would flutter around and then come back for another taste. I was truly taken by the strong sunlight and all the bright warm colors!

Happy Easter!

Ready to frame.

Media: acrylic on hardboard
Size: 6 in X 6 in (15.2 cm X 15.2 cm)
Price: $125 USD
