This is the second part of a commissioned set. The first one was posted a few days ago: "Heavenly Horizons." Love these contrasting colors! I added more detail to the face and the Harp of David, so this one has a little bit different look to it, but I felt like it need more this time.

"Stormy Beach"

Bright loud colors! Really grabs your attention.

I saw this tall cloud the other day and wanted to put it over the beach.  Love the exaggerated colors and the way they reflect in the sand.

Palette knife painting has definitely become my favorite means of expression these days. Hard to go back to small brushes and details after watching the interesting patterns and swirls intermix with wet-in-wet paint. It is very exciting to see the colors mix, and then to be able to touch it and feel the texture on it after it is dry.

Started with purple and yellow, and then added some pinks and blues to help tie it together. I like the glow around the angel. Purple is symbolic for the unknown and spiritual realms. Yellow is symbolic for joy and enlightenment. This painting was done with a painting knife, giving it a unique texture and interesting effects. It was commissioned as part of a set.

Endless Peace, palette knife angel

"Endless Peace"

This little painting is part of a series of knife paintings I am experimenting with. It started with blobs of color straight from the tube. I began to exaggerate the swirl and then decided to add the angel.

 I just love the textures and the way the knife gives an abstract feel to the whole thing. It is purely a selfish creation on my part. I got frustrated with a couple of other paintings that are not coming together yet and did this one as a way to cheer myself up and re-gather my composure. The angel reminds me to let things go and be patient.

Life Line, reworked, water, palette knife painting

"Life Line"

About This Painting:
The title just refers to water being a major source of life for us. I was also thinking that the view point here could be of someone who needed some help.....

Wanted to strengthen some of the shadows and add rocks. I have always liked the action in this painting, but I was making another one to create a set, and needed to make them work together better. I will post it later.

I have been sick for almost a week, along with my husband, so it has not been fun at my house lately!!!!! I am way behind on my painting projects.....thank goodness I do not have any deadlines right now!

This painting is all about joy and the celebration of color! It is the third in this series of fun little color studies. The greens look like cool hues against all those warm yellow-orange hues. I used Cadmium Yellow Light with the greens and Cadmium Yellow Medium with the oranges. Used some white to exaggerate the bright feeling I wanted.

It started as wonderful warm sunspots, then it reminded me a little of blood cells, and finally I thought it could be a crowd of people. A small palette knife painting. I was thinking about my first time swimming in the ocean, and remembering when the waves in Hawaii won the fight to keep my body going in the right direction! My little boogie board had cut my belly open and I felt like I had been spinning in a washing machine! I was 13 years old. My older brother fell out laughing at me when I finally found the beach and tried to catch my breath...

Inside Out, colorful abstract

"Inside Out"

About This Painting:
Inner space, outer space? Sunset, sunrise? This nonrepresentational painting can be anything you want it to be.

For me it is symbolic for mixed emotions. They get all tangled up and twisted inside me until I am exhausted. I love deeply, so I hurt deeply. I don't want to be numb and uncaring, so I have to accept the anguish with the joy. Sometimes I just have to get it out, and this time it all swirled together in a very fulfilling expression of my opposing feelings.

Endless Grace Again, angels with doves, flowers, and harp in mountain landscape

"Endless Grace Again"

About This Painting:
I have been in heaven painting these angels! This is a commissioned painting, so it is already sold.

The number 5 is symbolic for grace. Each angel has it's own color, and symbolism as well:

The purple angel is pouring out God's love through His Holy Word

The Burgundy angel is pouring out flowers that never die, they carry God's forgiveness and are symbolic for the Blood of the cross.

The yellow angel with the harp brings healing and joy into broken lives.

The white angel is releasing doves, which are symbolic for God's peace and the Holy Spirit which He gives to us for power to overcome the trials of this sin cursed world.

The orange angel is sounding the trumpet call: announcing Christ's return, the beginning of a new heaven and a new earth!
