Crossing Over, stone bridge, palette knife painting

"Crossing Over"
About This Painting:

This began as a lesson for my students in Fort Pierce a few months ago. It has sat around, unfinished, waiting for me to "touch it up." Well, I have been doing a lot more palette knife paintings lately, so I had to repaint the whole thing to get the affect I wanted. But it really does make great textures for the stones. The water was just a given, always love the way the palette knife adds sparkle to water.

I titled this painting "Crossing Over" to give it a spiritual connotation: crossing over a difficult time, letting go of past hurts, forgiving a life long grudge, accepting a new job, finding hope and joy again, or even leaving this earthly tent for our true home . . . Whatever you want it to mean.....
Thanks for taking the time to stop by!

Endless Peace, palette knife angel

"Endless Peace"

This little painting is part of a series of knife paintings I am experimenting with. It started with blobs of color straight from the tube. I began to exaggerate the swirl and then decided to add the angel.

I just love the textures and the way the knife gives an abstract feel to the whole thing. It is purely a selfish creation on my part. I got frustrated with a couple of other paintings that are not coming together yet and did this one as a way to cheer myself up and re-gather my composure. The angel reminds me to let things go and be patient.

Thanks for looking!

Just Dandy 2, landscape with wild flowers and dandelions

"Just Dandy 2"
About This Painting:
Palette knife painting. This is a larger version of the first one I did of this scene. I painted this one with with more blues instead of purples.
This is a grand memory of a walk I took in the morning. I came around a bend to see this wonderful little field of dandelions and wild flowers spread out in front of me.
Enjoy!

Out Front, yellow hibiscus

"Out Front"

I did this a few days ago but had so many problems with my computer that I didn't get to post it.....Hopefully, things will get back on track now...
This flower grows on a very tall bush out in front of my house, I really enjoy it! Mostly the background leaves and interesting shapes caught my eye, along with the value contrasts. Might try this one in an abstract painting...

Life Line, reworked, water, palette knife painting

"Life Line"
About This Painting:
The title just refers to water being a major source of life for us. I was also thinking that the view point here could be of someone who needed some help.....
Wanted to strengthen some of the shadows and add rocks. I have always liked the action in this painting, but I was making another one to create a set, and needed to make them work together better. I will post it later.
I have been sick for almost a week, along with my husband, so it has not been fun at my house lately!!!!! I am way behind on my painting projects.....thank goodness I do not have any deadlines right now!

Ready to frame.

Wild Iris, flower study

"Wild Iris"

About This Painting:
Saw this Iris out at the Adams Ranch a couple of weeks ago. The water behind it was covered in bright yellow-green algae, with some of the dark water showing through here and there. So after 3 tries to capture all those bright colors (and not liking the way the flower just disappeared), I decided to use the dark water, which sets it off nicely.
Ready to frame.
