Endless Life, palette knife angel

"Endless Life"
About This Painting:
Evergreen trees are symbolic of life, and angels are messengers from God. Through creation, we can see miracles and reminders that we are made to live forever. Our flesh will die, but our personalities and our spirit will live on. My prayer is that you have invited Jesus Christ into your life so your spirit is united with his, creating a new and unique spiritual being that will live with Him forever!
(Feel free to email me if you would like to know more about committing your life to Christ. This is not about religion, rules, or man's traditions, it is simply about accepting God's gift and love in your life. )
Merry Christmas!

Endless Courage, palette knife angel

"Endless Courage"
About This Painting:
I am accepting custom orders for these angels. They are created with a palette knife, so the texture and paint quality is very good. I love the bold colors, but they can be done in softer color schemes also. My favorite part is that they come with prayers for God to touch your life again and again!

Endless Healing, palette knife angel

"Endless Healing"
About This Painting:
My friend, a single mom with 3 small ones, was diagnosed with MS this week. I did this for her. I believe these paintings are like prayer cloths of the New Testament Church, when many found healing through the prayers passed along in cloths. To me these angel paintings are symbolic for God's touch, which we so desperately need each day.
I have heard people say that some paintings, landscapes and seascapes mostly, have brought them healing while they were on there sick bed. They could find peace and rest gazing at that painting until they were well again! What a wonderful thought! It really confirmed my beliefs about these angel paintings too.

Endless Grace Again, angels with doves, flowers, and harp in mountain landscape

"Endless Grace Again"

About This Painting:
I have been in heaven painting these angels! This is a commissioned painting, so it is already sold.
The number 5 is symbolic for grace. Each angel has it's own color, and symbolism as well:
The purple angel is pouring out God's love through His Holy Word
The Burgundy angel is pouring out flowers that never die, they carry God's forgiveness and are symbolic for the Blood of the cross.
The yellow angel with the harp brings healing and joy into broken lives.
The white angel is releasing doves, which are symbolic for God's peace and the Holy Spirit which He gives to us for power to overcome the trials of this sin cursed world.
The orange angel is sounding the trumpet call: announcing Christ's return, the beginning of a new heaven and a new earth!

Endless Grace, 5 angels

"Endless Grace"
About This Painting:
I love these little palette knife paintings full of symbolism.
5 is the number for God's grace, so I put five angels in all their own colors. Using the palette knife for the abstract quality and texture, I tried to capture a sense of wonder.
Purple is for the unknown, or spiritual awareness, also it can symbolize nobility.
I added the star in the shape of the cross to symbolize Jesus as the morning star. And I made the bottom of the sky a little lighter to indicate that the dawn is approaching.
I especially like the colors of the angel's overflowing onto the plants!

Rough draft for Endless Praise

Rough draft for Endless Praise

About This Painting:
Combined different ideas from previous paintings as I created this little study. I have touched it up some and added more color, but it was the rough idea I used to develop "Endless Praise" in a larger size. (See my last post.)
The challenge was in using a square format here, and a rectangular format for the final painting. I like having these little rough ideas to work from, as I have already worked out most of the problems and the composition comes together nicely.
Thanks for stopping by!

Endless Praise, palette knife angel

"Endless Praise"

About This Painting:
This is another commissioned painting. Combined the idea of an earlier painting of an angel kneeling with the colors of "Endless Song Too" (from a couple of weeks ago). This palette knife painting is full of texture which adds an abstract feel to the composition. I really do love all the bright colors too.
Ready to frame.

Endless Song Too, palette knife Angel

"Endless Song Too"

The format of this commissioned painting is larger than the previous painting "Endless Song," and this one is vertical instead of square.

It is actually the third palette knife painting of an angel done in this style. These are so exciting to paint, with lots of thick intense color and wonderful movement. I have already started another small one in a different color scheme and a different arrangement.

Endless Song, Palette Knife Angel

"Endless Song"

About This Painting:
This fun little painting started as an abstract, alla prima (all at once). I began to see an angel emerge out of the wonderful colors, so I had too develop it. I absolutely love all the contrasts. Dark and light, as well as cool and warm colors, it just seems to be exploding! I also enjoy creating things with a palette knife because of the texture and abstract quality.

I can imagine this angel, along with many others, joining us when we sing songs of worship. It is as if when you praise God, no matter how bad things are, you step out of the dark shadows and step into that joy-giving light.

Maybe that is what this angel was doing. Might have been doing battle on your behalf, and then turned around, into the light as the song began, mission accomplished!

Quenching the Darts, palette knife painting

Quenching the Darts"
10 x 10 inches
Acrylic on hardboard
framing is optional, sides are painted
There is a lot of back ground and life stories that go with this, so I will try to keep it short.
Life has always thrown hardships my way: The death of my father as a young child, abuse from step fathers, moving every year, running away as a teenager, and foster homes for three years. I thought as an adult I could make life good, be a good person, and live a "normal life"-- whatever that is. But life continued to throw more hardships my way: a husband that lied and cheated and ran off with another woman after thirteen years of giving it my all (leaving me with two sons to raise), a second husband that abused me (whom I divorced after a year and a half) and now in the midst of finally living my dreams and being a professional artist -- I find my self in a world of doubt, strife and unbelief. My husband is very old school, and I have to fight for my rights on a regular basis. he has been ill lately, and taking his frustration out on me verbally. Sometimes I just want to give up altogether and run away. (Which helps me understand my mother and her frequent moves to a new state or even to an island in the pacific!)
Anyway, back to the painting, this started as a release of pent up anger at my husband, whose quick temper is hard for me to deal with sometimes. Next I saw an angel begin to form, but the wings began to look like a dove, the symbol of peace, and I knew it was me in agony on my knees, again. "How do I stay positive when all the world is so negative?" Sometimes I just can't stop the tears. So this painting poured out of my wounded soul. I have always found hope on my knees.

In the Bible it says to put on God's armor:
His peace, His helmet of salvation, His righteousness . . . so you can quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one, for our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the powers of darkness in high places.
(Ephesians 6)

Rainy Day Angel, palette knife painting

"Rainy Day Angel"
8 x 10 inches
Acrylic on hardboard
SOLD

#5 in the blue series. I used a composition of split compliments. Blue-green, blue-violet, orange, black and white. Orange is a true compliment to blue, so by using the hues on each side of blue I have split the compliment. I could have done it the other way: with Blue and Yellow-Orange or Red-Orange.
This is a palette knife painting, which gives it that almost abstract look, which I love for angels.
When we are down we can be sure God is still with us. His messengers are all around. We can find comfort even when times are tough.

Thanks for looking!

Schoolroom Mural

"Schoolroom Mural"
Acrylic

The orbs of light are in different locations on each photo I took, sometimes large and sometimes small. I have seen this before, in photos I have taken at church, so it thrills me to think the angels have been with us while we worked on this mural!

This is the mural that my students have been working on the past month or two. (Rebekah is 13 and Rachel is 8.) Luke, who is 3 years old, painted the little yellow flower off to the right of the tree while I guided his hand. This mural is in the home school room/ play room. While I have been painting murals on their bedroom walls, the kids have been coming out for a couple of hours once or twice a week. I have enjoyed this project tremendously.
They came up with the ideas, and the colors! Some of the apples have family member's names on them-- creating a very unique family tree. I have been helping them when things get a little too far off, and to clean up any mistakes. Don't you think they have done a great job making this room so colorful?

Luke's Tractor, completed mural

"Luke's Tractor"
Acrylic on a wall
Approximately 9 x 13 feet

Luke is in the tractor with an angel behind him.

Air plane in the sky, angel flying with it.

click on this one to see the doe and fawn in the middle ground.
Cows are in the distance, and hogs are in the mud.

Luke's dog is chasing a rabbit.

This mural just kept growing! I was so excited when the little boy in the tractor began to actually look like Luke! That took a few tries. Luke wanted the tractor stuck in the mud, but I liked it with the grass and didn't want to change it, so I added some mud on the tires.

Rebekah's Beach, Mural completed

Rebeka's Beach, Mural,
acrylic on a wall

(I blocked the glare from the window for a better photo, makes the sand look darker.)

An angel looks out from behind a cloud. Blends in nicely.

Two angels here. (Click the image to enlarge it.)

The volleyball and the net are in Gator colors (University of Florida).

Finished up Rebekah's Beach today. Approx 13 x 8 feet. I love the angel sitting on the cloud to the right of the sun. There are seagulls and seashells too. Wonderful bold colors! I think Rebekah will really like it. She plays volleyball and her team went to state competition! Way To Go, Rebekah!

Mural, completed

The right side of the mural is finished. Here are some views of it. I blocked off the window and got some better photos this time.

The top photo is the left side. Added some more flowers and brightened up the lighting. Scroll down to see more.

I have run into problems with the priming of the next two murals. The paint is not adhering to the wall. I have to sand and re-prime the walls--very disheartening! I had already started major fill-ins!

Rebekah's Beach

"Rebekah's Beach"
8x10 inches
Acrylic on hardboard

This is a rough draft for a mural I will be doing in Rebekah's room. We will add a volleyball net, and a ball on the beach. We may add more angels than the one in front of the sun, or we may move that one to another location. There will be more and/or larger flowers too. The birds may end up closer, or more of them. Her room is a beautiful aqua color, so this will go very nicely.

Mural in progress, horses, butterflies, angels and a bunny!

I moved the front legs farther to the left and made the neck a little shorter to give Rachel's horse better proportions. (See the image below for a comparison). I am close to getting the left side done. The sky goes across the top of the window, and the grass under the window is full of flowers and butterflies. Hard to get a good photo with the window glaring on the camera.

There is an angel in the sky above the oak tree, and a bunny in the grass, along with flowers and butterflies. Too cute! The edges will soften into the pink walls.

This is the first lay in. The colors are off a little and so are the proportions. There is an angel in the sky above the horse. Click on the image to see it closer.
This mural is 13 feet, not including the window!

This is the beginning of the right side. I think This is Rachel's Dad's horse. He is a buckskin.
I am enjoying this project. I go to the ranch house about three times a week all day. So my Daily Paintings are not getting done everyday for now. I will try to keep two or three new small works posted each week, so please keep checking back!
This is the first of 3 murals.
